With this conference we aimed to get a broad overview of the state of the art in the different aspects of nanosafety, to increase the interactions among the community of experts, providing the chance of sharing new ideas and generating new collaborations.

This hybrid event was opened to students, research personal and academia as well as industry, governmental agencies, and other relevant organisations interested in nanotechnology, hazard and risk assessment of nanomaterials and advanced materials, alternate methods for nanomaterial hazard testing, release and exposure, safe-by-design (SbD) of nanomaterials and advanced materials and other areas of interest.

Three days of a powerful programme focused on electron microscopy and its impact on life sciences, material sciences and structural biology.

The 2021 edition of the Conference Microscopy at the Frontiers of Science brought together an international group of experts in a discussion on the latest breakthroughs and future developments in the field.

The Prime Minister of Portugal presided over an event hosted by INL and dedicated to the Green Battery Value Chain on June 8, 2021. The Head of the Portuguese Government highlighted the added value that Portugal has in having lithium reserves, stressing that the territories in which the extraction of that resource will be carried out must have compensations. In addition to natural resources and funding, António Costa highlighted another advantage that he considers Portugal to have in this energy transition process, which is “knowledge”.

Over 60 participants attended the online seminar promoted by INL on the occasion of the International Day of Light (celebrated yearly around May 16th) and learned about the increasingly relevant role that light has to science, technology and our daily lives.

The 2021 edition of the EuroNanoForum was full of new insights about what Europe needs to recover, thrive, and become more resilient, with the support of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials.

The EuroNanoForum 2021 gathered a total of 3640 participants from over 140 countries, providing thousands of opportunities for networking and collaboration through almost 200 scientific posters, 17 exhibitors, five satellite events, and several hours of sessions about topics that the European Nanotechnology community is now even more empowered to intervene upon.

PITCCH Corporate Challenges Launch event was a great chance to find unique and ground-breaking opportunities for SMEs and startups that work with advanced technologies. PITCCH aims to set up a Pan-European Open Innovation Network where structured collaborations between big corporations (BC) and small and medium enterprises (SME) lead to the acceleration of innovative solutions based on advanced technologies.

INL organised this online session open to all Researchers interested in learning more about the European Research Council grants. The ERC Spanish and Portuguese National Contact Points provided information on how to apply for ERCs and a panel composed by an ERC evaluator and ERC grant holders shared their experience in how to write a successful application.

The Hydrogen Summit 2020 gathered key industry and government stakeholders, among 28 renowned speakers and 285 active attendees from all over the world. The discussions generated throughout the whole summit contributed to lively interactions between all participants.

INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, CeNTI – Center for Nanotechnology and Technical, Functional and Intelligent Materials, and IPN – Instituto Pedro Nunes, brought together specialists in several areas for a “marathon of ideas” around what Braga needs to become a Smart City by 2030.

The program for this half-day debate about Braga’s future started with the presentation of problems, followed by a group discussion. After dinner, there was a pitch of the ideas proposed by scientists, technicians, experts, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts.

For three days, we had the opportunity to witness the emergence of new paradigms after 100 years of the birth of quantum physics, the exploration of quantum materials, quantum technologies and quantum information. In this event, we welcomed more than 130 participants in an event powered by three Keynote speakers, 16 invited talks, several contributed talks and poster presentations.

For two days, we had the pleasure to bring together 140 participants from all over the world, 10 inspiring talks by globally renowned speakers, two stimulating roundtables, several poster presentations and contributed talks by notable researchers.

The Mission 10.000: Batteries brought researchers, innovators, and policy-makers together to discuss current and future trends in battery storage. Talks and posters ranged from fundamental beyond-Li-ion research to EU-level deployment of Li-ion battery industry.

NME19, co-organized by the ETPN and INL, was a new and unique conference bringing together scientists, technology providers, entrepreneurs, industry and clinicians, all of them developing great medical applications of Nanotechnologies and emerging MedTech. 

Scientific lectures on Nanomedicine & sessions about the translation to market of nanomedical products were held in parallel.

These two days were designed to be an opportunity to celebrate, to share experiences, to foster new applications to ERC Grants from Iberian researchers, to identify common challenges and synergies, to discuss how to keep the sustainability of research groups after the end of the ERC funding, and finally to build a wide mobilisation of expertise, resources and competencies set by the 2030 Agenda highlighting the need for more integrated research for sustainable development across natural, social, health sciences, economics and engineering.

The NL Summit 2017 conference gathered the most skilled professionals in the area. Scientists, politicians and economists discussed the various applications of the technology, the consequent reshaping of the economic and social systems and how much it will change our daily life.

Nanotechnology is the continuation of the next chapter in the acceleration of advanced technology and is pointing towards the transformation of the future global economy.

INL opened its doors for a festival dedicated to Science and Nanotechnology to show the daily lives of the many researchers working at the laboratory from all over the world. 
The program included lectures, demonstrations, scientific experiments, exhibitions and play activities for children and adults. 
Physicists, chemists, biologists and engineers explained how nanotechnology, this invisible giant, has the potential to improve our lives and make our planet more sustainable.

International Conference on Micro and Nanoengineering

For the 2017 edition, INL and IMB-CNM, CSIC, co-organiser of the conference set-up an outstanding program, with very high-level key-note speakers on topics spanning from meta-materials to life-sciences and information technologies. MNE2017covered all the main current activities in micro/nano engineering and for this, the organisation re-structured the conference in four areas: Novel Developments in Nano/Micro Fabrication Methods and processes; Fabrication and Integration of Micro/Nano Structures Devices and Systems; Engineering for Physical and Chemical Applications; and Engineering for the Life Sciences.
